The Simple Clock app allows you to display the time on screen, or as part of a Split Screen configuration.
The Simple Clock App allows you to show a classic digital or analog clock on your screen.
Below are some examples.
What You'll Need
- An OptiSigns account - Free Plan or higher
- An OptiSigns-enabled device - if on Free plan, one of these devices
- A screen, set up and paired with OptiSigns
Setting Up a Simple Clock App
On the OptiSigns portal, go to Files/Assets → Apps.
Select Simple Clock:
- Name - Name of your assets. This is for organizational purposes and will not be displayed on your screens.
-
Clock Type - Choose your type of clock. Pick the one that you like best! There are six options:
- Classic Digital
- Modern Digital
- Classic Analog
- Modern Analog
- Minimalist
- Kinetic
- Theme - Choose between Light and Dark theme, or set it to Auto (6 AM/PM), which will automatically change between the two in the morning and evening.
- Landscape / Portrait - Switch the Preview between Landscape, Portrait, and Custom.
Theme and Clock Settings
The actual Theme and Clock Settings will vary depending on whether your clock display is digital or analog.
The remaining options live in two collapsible sections, Clock Settings and Theme Settings. Click either one to expand it. Which sections appear — and what’s inside them — depends on the Clock Type you chose.
Digital Clocks
-
Time Format - How you want the time to be formatted on your digital clock.
- Show Seconds - Choose whether or not to show seconds.
- Show Date - Choose whether or not to display the date.
-
Date Format - If Show Date is turned on, you can customize the way the date is formatted here.
- Time Font Size - Choose the font size for the time display.
- Date Font Size - Choose the font size for the date. This option only appears if Show Date is turned on above.
- Text Color - Choose the Text color for the digital clock.
- Background Color - Choose the Background color for the display.
| NOTE |
| Using Modern Digital, there are 6 Color Presets: Neon Cyberpunk, Minimalist Zen, Retro Digital, Elegant Classic, Gaming RGB, and Nature Organic. The Background colors of these Presets cannot have their gradients changed. Modern Digital also has its own Font Family, Font Size, and Text Animation options. |
Analog Clocks
Analog clock types have only a Theme Settings section.
- Show Numbers - Choose whether or not to show numbers on the analog clock display.
- Show Tick Marks - Choose whether or not to show tick marks on the analog clock display.
- Dial Color - Change the dial color on the analog clock display.
- Hour Hand Color - Change the color of the hour hand on the analog clock display.
- Minute Hand Color - Change the color of the minute hand on the analog clock display.
- Second Hand Color - Change the color of the second hand on the analog clock display.
- Clock Face Background - Change the background color of the clock face.
- Background Color - Change the background color of the entire display outside the clock face.
Modern Analog uses a different set: Outer Face Color, Inner Face Color, Clock Border Color, and Tick Mark Color in place of Dial Color and Clock Face Background.
Deploying a Simple Clock App
You can deploy your new Simple Clock app as an individual asset, or as part of a Split Screen.
To get your new Simple Clock asset to a screen, go to the Screens tab, then click the screen you want to assign it to.
This brings up the Edit Screen menu:
Here, select Asset under Content type. Then, select your created Simple Clock Asset:
Now hit Save. Your Simple Clock asset will now display on screen.
You can also deploy it as part of a split screen, allowing you to show other assets at the same time. See how in our Split Screen app article. It can also be displayed in a Playlist or Schedule.
That's all!
