How to use News App

This article will guide you through how to create and use News app.

You can create News App with a wide range of topic from Business, Technology, World, Politics, to Sports.
You can also have news by region, US, UK, North East, West, etc.

Let's jump in and get started:

First, you will need to have your screens set up and paired. For more information on how to do that, click here.

Then log on to our portal: http://app.optisigns.com/

Go to Files/Assets, Click on "App" and add News on your Account.

 

Click News:

 

Enter your News Wall App information:

  • Name: Name of your News app, this is the name of the app in your asset list. It will not be displayed on your screens.

  • Country: Currently we support US, UK, and World news. for World News select the US and check World.

  • Category: Select the region and category that you want to focus on. You can check as many as you want.

  • Display Mode: Select Single Post View, or Social Kiosk View. Click on the links to see a live example.

  • Theme: Select Light or Dark Theme. You can also customize your background color if you select Custom.

  • Speed: Select how fast you want the app to scroll or switch between posts. You can also customize your speed if you select Custom.

  • Font Size: Set the font size for the News Wall app.

You can click Advanced and set:

  • Scrolling Strip Font Size: If you put the News Wall app to a SplitScreen zone that is a scrolling strip, you can set how big you want the scrolling text to be.

Click Save.
After Saving, you can Preview the app. It may take several seconds for the app to fetch posts and prepare your news app, so please be patient.

That's all! Congratulation!

You have created your News App.
You can change the app any time by click on it in the Files/Assets tab. 

You can assign the newly created News App to your screen by going to Screens, click Edit screens and assign the News App to screens that you want.

You can put the created News App in a Playlist, Schedule too.
