How to Use the Matterport App – OptiSigns

In this article, we'll show how to display Matterport 3D tours on your digital signs with OptiSigns.

Matterport turns real spaces into interactive 3D tours. With the Matterport app, it's possible to show those tours on your digital signs, so you can showcase a property, venue, store or facility in your lobby, showroom or sales office.

Let's get started.

What You'll Need

An OptiSigns account - Standard Plan or higher
The link to the Matterport tour you want to display
An OptiSigns-enabled device
A screen, set up and paired with OptiSigns (see our Getting Started guide)

Creating a Matterport App

First, open the Matterport tour you want to display and copy its link. It will look like:

https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=tyEb2t1RWsc.

NOTE

The Matterport app only accepts links that start with https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=. Any other address shows Please enter a valid Matterport URL. and you won't be able to save.

Next, go to the OptiSigns portal. Go to Files/Assets and select Apps.

Search for Matterport and select the Matterport app.

The Matterport app settings will open. Fill in the following:

Name - The name of your Matterport asset. This is for organizational purposes within OptiSigns only and will not display on your screens.
URL - The Matterport tour link you wish to display.

Now hit Save. You'll have created a Matterport app, and it will appear in your Files/Assets.

IMPORTANT

Matterport tours are demanding to display. The app may not display correctly on a FireStick 2nd Gen (2019) or older. For the smoothest playback, use a more powerful player, such as an OptiSigns Pro Player, OptiStick, or Windows device. See our supported hardware for options.

Deploying a Matterport App

To push your Matterport app to a screen, go to the Screens tab, then click Edit next to the screen you want to display it on.

The Edit Screen pop-up will appear. Select Asset under Content Type, then hit Change next to Selected Asset.

The Select Asset window will open. Search for your Matterport app, click it, then hit Select.

Back in Edit Screen, hit Save. Your Matterport tour will now display on your screen.

Your Matterport app can also be displayed in a Playlist or Schedule, or as one zone of a Split Screen.
