How to Use the Notion App – OptiSigns

In this article, we'll show how to display your Notion pages on your digital signs with OptiSigns.

With the Notion app, it's possible to display any Notion page on your digital signs. Share team notes, announcements, menus or project updates straight from Notion, and let your screens refresh as the page changes.

Let's get started.

What You'll Need

An OptiSigns account - Standard Plan or higher
A Notion account, with permission to share the page you want to display to the web
An OptiSigns-enabled device
A screen, set up and paired with OptiSigns (see our Getting Started guide)

Creating a Notion App

First, open the page you want to display in Notion. Click Share, turn on Share to web, then hit Copy next to the public link.

NOTE

The Notion app only accepts a public notion.site link, such as https://your-page.notion.site/page-name. If the link you paste doesn't match, the app shows Please enter a valid Notion public page URL and you won't be able to save.

Next, go to the OptiSigns portal. Go to Files/Assets and select Apps.

Search for Notion and select the Notion app.

The Notion app settings will open. Fill in the following:

Name - The name of your Notion asset. This is for organizational purposes within OptiSigns only and will not display on your screens.
URL - The public Notion link you copied in the first step.
Update Interval - How often the app checks Notion for changes, measured in seconds. The default is 600 (every 10 minutes). Set it to 0 to check only when the app first loads.

Now hit Save. You'll have created a Notion app, and it will appear in your Files/Assets.

Deploying a Notion App

To push your Notion app to a screen, go to the Screens tab, then click Edit next to the screen you want to display it on.

The Edit Screen pop-up will appear. Select Asset under Content Type, then hit Change next to Selected Asset.

The Select Asset window will open. Search for your Notion app, click it, then hit Select.

Back in Edit Screen, hit Save. Your Notion page will now display on your screen.

Your Notion app can also be displayed in a Playlist or Schedule, or as one zone of a Split Screen.
