MRSS feeds is a popular way for organization to push out multimedia information. Whether you have a well-know MRSS feeds or one from your local community or company, you can put the feed on big screens TV with OptiSigns.
This article will guide you through how to create and use MRSS app with OptiSigns.
With the OptiSigns MRSS app you can:
- Connect to MRSS URL (we support images, videos, YouTube and Vimeo URLs) - Images, Videos will be downloaded to devices and cache locally, this will improve performance and make content available even when internet is down.
- Choose the timing, duration of your images/videos/YouTube/Vimeo
- Choose transition effect between your items
Let's jump in and get started:
First, you will need to have your screens set up and paired. For more information on how to do that, click here.
Then log on to our portal: https://app.optisigns.com/
Go to Files/Assets, Click on "App" and add MRSS feeds on your Account.
Click MRSS app:
Enter your MRSS feed information:

Name: Name of your MRSS Feed app, this is the name of the wall in your asset list. It will not be displayed on your screens.

MRSS Feed URL: an MRSS feed format URL such as: https://rss.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/World.xml

Transition Effect: Transition effect between your items.

Transition Speed: How fast you want your transitions to animate.

Duration for Image: How long each images should show on your screen, default is 10 seconds.

Max Video Duration: Default is 0, which means the app will play each video till the end. You can set it to some other values to prevent too long videos. For example if you set this value to 60 seconds. If a video is longer than 60s, it will get cut off at 60s to play next item. If a video is less than 60s, it will play the duration of the video. This option would be applied to YouTube and Vimeo URLs as well.
Depend on how many items in your MRSS Feed, it may take a moment to fetch the MRSS items and prepare your feed, so please be patient.

You have created your MRSS feed wall.
You can change the wall any time by click on it in the Files/Assets tab.
You can assign the newly created wall to your screen by going to Screens, click Edit screens and assign the wall to screens that you want.
You can put the created social walls in a Playlist, Schedule too.
