In this article, we'll show you how to review and approve social media posts before they appear on your screens.
When you display a social media feed on your screens, you may want to check posts before your audience sees them. This is especially useful for hashtag feeds, where anyone can post content that shows up on your wall.
OptiSigns has built-in moderation for this. You can hold new posts until you approve them, and hide or remove any post already in your feed.
Apps That Support Moderation
Moderation is available in these apps:
- Instagram Business
- Facebook Page
- X Social
- Google Reviews
- Slack
- Viva Engage
- Microsoft Teams Chat
The steps below use the Instagram app. The other apps work the same way.
Turn On Moderation

| Save your app before you start. Moderation needs posts to work with, so it is only available on an app that has already been saved. It may take a few minutes for posts to load after the first save. |
Go to Files/Assets and click your saved social media app to open its settings.
Click Advanced to expand the advanced settings. Turn off Always show new posts, then click the gear button next to it.
While Always show new posts is on, every new post appears on your screens automatically. When it is off, new posts wait in the Moderation window until you show them.
Click Save in the app settings to keep the change.

| In the Google Reviews app, this setting is called Always Show New Reviews, and the button next to it is labeled Moderation. In the Facebook Page app, the button is also labeled Moderation. |
Review Posts
The Moderation window lists the posts in your feed. Use the bar at the top to find posts:
- Search - Find a specific post.
- Newest / Oldest - Change the order of the list.
- Refresh Data - Fetch the latest posts from your account.
Each post has its own buttons:
- Show / Hide (the eye button) - Show the post on your screens, or hide it from them. Hidden posts stay in the list, so you can show them again later.
- Delete (the red button) - Remove the post from the list in OptiSigns. This does not delete the post from your social media account.
Moderate Several Posts at Once
To act on many posts together, tick the box next to each post, or tick the box at the top to select every post on the page. Click Select all to include the posts on the other pages too.
The bar at the top shows how many posts you have selected, with three buttons on the right: show (the eye), hide (the crossed-out eye), and delete (the red button). Click one to apply it to every selected post.
Your changes apply as soon as you make them. Close the window when you are done.

| If you use the Social Mix app, posts you hide or delete in a source app are also removed from your Social Mix. |
