In this article, we’ll guide you through setting up OptiSound, our licensed background music add-on built directly into OptiSigns.
With OptiSound, you can stream curated background music legally in commercial environments, seamlessly alongside your digital signage content.
What is OptiSound?
OptiSound is an embedded add-on within OptiSigns designed to help businesses play licensed background music without dealing with third-party apps or complicated setups. With a wide selection of music stations and proper licensing for commercial use, you can elevate your in-store experience with just a few clicks. A Pro Plan gives you access to millions of songs across the popular (and niche!) music landscape.

In order to use OptiSound Premium Music, you need an Android or AppleTV device with an OptiSigns version of at least:

What You'll Need
- OptiSigns subscription (Standard plan or higher)
- OptiSound Add-on
- Standard Plan: $15.00/device/month
- Pro Plan: $25.00/device/month
- An Android, OptiSigns Pro/ProMax, or Apple TV device
- Speaker / audio set up with bluetooth or wired connection capabilities
OptiSound Tiers and Pricing
Within OptiSigns, OptiSound offers two tiers of pricing:

Standard - $15/device/month:
- Access to licensed, ad-free background music through the OptiSound app, or through an OptiSigns add-on
- Offline Music Playlist
- Available worldwide

Pro - $25/device/month:
- Unlimited access to OptiSound Premium music, a massive catalog of licensed popular music, from ABBA to Zendaya
- Available only in the United States and Canada
Note the small crowns on the second row - these denote Premium audio channels.

Setting Up an OptiSound Add-On
To subscribe to OptiSound, go to the Subscription Plan option in the main menu. Scroll down until you see OptiSound.
You'll have the Option to begin a 14-Day Free Trial. This will default to the Standard plan. To update to the Pro Plan, click Update Licenses.
You'll have the option to choose your plan. For Premium music, choose the Pro plan, then hit Update.
When you've chosen the Pro Plan, it will be visible next to the Add-On menu.
In order to assign it to a screen, you can assign the add-on by hitting the Add Screen button here:

Browse and Assign Music Stations
To browse and assign stations, go to the Screens tab.
Select the screen where you would like to assign music. This could be a screen you've already activated, or not. If not, click Activate Background Music.
This will use up an Add-On license.
Next, click Change to browse through the list of available stations.
Select the station that best fits your business environment. Premium music stations are only available on a Pro plan.
Ensure the Audio Source Priority is set to Background Music in the screen settings. Setting the audio priority ensures your background music keeps playing, even when showing muted videos or other content.
Finish assigning any additional content to the screen as needed. Then click Save — the selected music station will begin playing immediately.
Connect Your Device to Your Audio System
To play the music through your business’s sound system you can either:
- Use a wired audio connection (e.g., 3.5mm aux, RCA, or HDMI audio out), or
- Pair the device via Bluetooth to your speaker setup.
Double-check your device’s audio output settings to make sure it matches your connection type.
