In this article, we'll show how to invite viewers to follow your social media accounts from your digital signs with OptiSigns.
With the Follow Us app, it's possible to invite viewers to follow you on social media, right from your screens. Show your Facebook, Instagram or X profile with a scannable QR code, plus your website, email and phone number, and grow your follower base.
Let's get started.
What You'll Need
- An OptiSigns account - Standard Plan or higher
- The username of each social media profile you want to show
- An OptiSigns-enabled device
- A screen, set up and paired with OptiSigns (see our Getting Started guide)
Creating a Follow Us App
From the OptiSigns portal, go to Files/Assets and select Apps.
Search for Follow Us and select the Follow Us app.
The Follow Us app settings will open. Under Social Profile, choose Facebook, Instagram or X, then type the profile's username in the box next to it. For example, for https://www.instagram.com/optisigns, enter optisigns. The link under the box shows the full profile address, so you can check for typos.
To show more than one profile, click Add more. To remove one, click the X (cancel button) next to it.
Then fill in the rest of the settings:
- Name - The name of your Follow Us asset. This is for organizational purposes within OptiSigns only and will not display on your screens.
- Title - The text shown on your screen above the profile, such as "Follow us for the latest news."
- Social Profile - The Facebook, Instagram or X profiles to show. Add one, or add several.
- Theme - Choose Light Theme or Dark Theme.
- Speed - If you've added more than one profile, this sets how long each profile shows before moving to the next. Choose Slow, Medium or Fast, or Custom to set your own speed.
- Website (optional) - A website address to show on the screen.
- Email (optional) - An email address to show on the screen.
- Telephone (optional) - A phone number to show on the screen.
When Speed is set to Custom, drag the slider to choose a speed from 1 to 20.
Now hit Save. You'll have created a Follow Us app, and it will appear in your Files/Assets.
Deploying a Follow Us App
To push your Follow Us app to a screen, go to the Screens tab, then click Edit next to the screen you want to display it on.
The Edit Screen pop-up will appear. Select Asset under Content Type, then hit Change next to Selected Asset.
The Select Asset window will open. Search for your Follow Us app, click it, then hit Select.
Back in Edit Screen, hit Save. Your Follow Us app will now display on your screen.
Your Follow Us app can also be displayed in a Playlist or Schedule, or as one zone of a Split Screen.
