How to Use the Walls.io App – OptiSigns

In this article, we'll show how to display your Walls.io social media wall on your digital signs with OptiSigns.

With the Walls.io app, it's possible to show your Walls.io social media wall on your screens. Collect posts from your social channels and hashtags in Walls.io, then display them on your digital signs by pasting in your wall's URL.

Let's get started.

What You'll Need

An OptiSigns account - Standard Plan or higher
A Walls.io account with a social wall set up
An OptiSigns-enabled device
A screen, set up and paired with OptiSigns (see our Getting Started guide)

Creating a Walls.io App

First, open your wall in Walls.io and copy its URL from your browser's address bar.

From the OptiSigns portal, go to Files/Assets and select Apps.

Search for Walls.io and select the Walls.io app.

The Walls.io app settings will open. Fill in the settings:

Name - The name of your Walls.io asset. This is for organizational purposes within OptiSigns only and will not display on your screens.
URL - Paste the URL of your Walls.io wall here, for example https://my.walls.io/your-wall-name.
Update Interval - How often, in seconds, OptiSigns checks your wall for updates. Walls.io updates your wall automatically, so this doesn't need to be low. We recommend the default of 600 seconds.

If you'd rather not show the Walls.io brand bar at the top of your wall, use your wall's embed code with our Embed App instead.

Now hit Save. You'll have created a Walls.io app, and it will appear in your Files/Assets. It may take a few seconds for your wall to load.

Deploying a Walls.io App

To push your Walls.io app to a screen, go to the Screens tab, then click Edit next to the screen you want to display it on.

The Edit Screen pop-up will appear. Select Asset under Content Type, then hit Change next to Selected Asset.

The Select Asset window will open. Search for your Walls.io app, click it, then hit Select.

Back in Edit Screen, hit Save. Your Walls.io app will now display on your screen.

Your Walls.io app can also be displayed in a Playlist or Schedule, or as one zone of a Split Screen.
