How to Use the MustHaveMenus App – OptiSigns

In this article, we'll show how to display your MustHaveMenus menu designs on your digital signs with OptiSigns.

MustHaveMenus makes it easy to design professional menus for restaurants, cafes and bars. With the MustHaveMenus app, it's possible to put those menu designs on your digital signs as a digital menu board, and have the screen pick up your changes whenever you edit the design.

Let's get started.

What You'll Need

An OptiSigns account - Standard Plan or higher
A MustHaveMenus account on a plan that lets you share links to your designs (MustHaveMenus Pro)
An OptiSigns-enabled device
A screen, set up and paired with OptiSigns (see our Getting Started guide)

NOTE

MustHaveMenus now requires a paid Pro plan to share links to your designs. If you don't have one, you can use OptiSigns' free menu board templates and POS integrations instead (requires OptiSigns Pro Plus plan or above).

Creating a MustHaveMenus App

First, sign in to musthavemenus.com and open the menu design you want to display. Click Share, select Share Link, then hit Copy.

Next, go to the OptiSigns portal. Go to Files/Assets and select Apps.

Search for MustHaveMenus and select the MustHaveMenus app.

The MustHaveMenus app settings will open. Fill in the following:

Name - The name of your MustHaveMenus asset. This is for organizational purposes within OptiSigns only and will not display on your screens.
URL - The share link you copied from MustHaveMenus.
Update Interval - How often the app checks MustHaveMenus for changes to your design, measured in seconds. The default is 600 (every 10 minutes). Set it to 0 to check only when the app first loads.
Menu Page - The page of your design to show, as a number. The default is 1.

TIP

Each MustHaveMenus app shows one page. To show a design with several pages, create one MustHaveMenus app per page, each with a different Menu Page, and put them in a Playlist or a Split Screen.

Now hit Save. You'll have created a MustHaveMenus app, and it will appear in your Files/Assets.

Deploying a MustHaveMenus App

To push your MustHaveMenus app to a screen, go to the Screens tab, then click Edit next to the screen you want to display it on.

The Edit Screen pop-up will appear. Select Asset under Content Type, then hit Change next to Selected Asset.

The Select Asset window will open. Search for your MustHaveMenus app, click it, then hit Select.

Back in Edit Screen, hit Save. Your menu will now display on your screen.

Your MustHaveMenus app can also be displayed in a Playlist or Schedule, or as one zone of a Split Screen.
